The Beginning of Conway Andalusians

In 1988, Conway Andalusians started with the desire to have "the horse of my dreams." Notice the words "Horse of my Dreams!" was used in a singular tense. But, as any breeder of these magnificent P.R.E.’s will tell you... "You can’t have just one!"

My decision to buy a P.R.E. started with a desire to have a BAY filly for my pleasure horse. Although I searched high and low and in many states, I did not find that bay filly I had originally set out to. I did, however, find Casandra. She was a dirty, hairy, gray yearling filly whose movement was breathtaking. I knew at that very moment that she had to be mine.

When Casandra finally arrived home, we bonded immediately and she became my sole-mate.
It was as if I could read her mind and she could read mine. We had a bond I had never had with any horse.

I worked daily with Casandra and rarely missed a day of seeing her. My goal was to get her ready to show and with all that hair and dirt it was a monumental job. Our first show was addicting and continued showing her for the next two years. As time went on, I broke her to ride and I trusted her completely and truly had the best years of my life with her.

However, during this time with Casandra, I found another horse I could not live without! I purchased her too and pretty soon, there was another, and another and another! It never occurred to me, at the time I was looking for Casandra, that "one" would become "many"... and so began "Conway Andalusians".

To this day, I have never regretted my decision to have P.R.E. horses or to become involved in breeding and selling them. They have been the joy of my life and I could never think of anything that I would have rather done with my life.
